Goldvish Le Million - Most Expensive Mobile Phone..…Ever

Goldvish, a famous company known to specialize in luxury items generally holds the title for some of the most expensive cell phones. Typically starting around $28,000 they make a statement of affluence without a doubt. However, recent headlines identified a stunning bejeweled device manufactured by JSC Ancort, the Diamond Crypto Smartphone, which comes in at a cool $1.3 million. If you're ready to really impress, this might be the choice for you.

Aside from being the ghastly latest mobile phone you’ve ever seen, the item in the picture is also the most expensive mobile phone ever produced, the Golfvish Le Million. It retails at a fairly steep 1 million Euros, but you might have more trouble getting hold of one given that Goldvish have only made three of them. May be Nokia mobile phones are also trying for an expensive phone like Goldvish soon in 2008.

Orange Goes Beyond Voice

Orange offers Setanta football on mobile phones

Orange has become the first British network to offer sports programming from pay-TV group Setanta, making its mobile TV service the only one available where football fans can watch all televised Barclays Premiership games.

Mobile phone customers willing to pay £5 a month will get access to Setanta Sports 1, Setanta Sports 2 and Setanta Golf from today. Orange mobile network already provides Sky's mobile TV service so anyone willing to shell out for both will have access to every televised match of the Barclays Premier League. In the auction of Premier League rights, Sky spent £1.3bn for 92 games a year while Setanta picked up 46 for £392m. Sky got the pick of the games, but Setanta - which sells its TV service for £10 a month on Freeview and Sky while many Virgin Media customers get it for free - has some big games such as next month's Chelsea game against Tottenham Hotspur.

The Irish pay-TV group, which is being bankrolled by investors including Goldman Sachs, also has the US PGA Golf and the Scottish premiership. "This partnership is all about bringing customers closer to the game they love," said Steve Wallage, head of sports partnerships at Orange. "The addition of the Setanta Sports package to our existing football portfolio was essential to ensure our customers don't miss any of this season's action - we're now the true home for 'football on your mobile'."

"No serious football fan would risk missing his team's progress this season and the deal with Orange means that need never happen," added Timothy Ryan, GB marketing director for Setanta Sports. "As well as exclusive football content from across Europe, you can also watch Setanta Golf on your mobile phone . From the PGA Tour to live action from the Premier League, there's no excuse for not being on the ball." Earlier this month, Setanta announced it had signed its one millionth "premium" TV subscriber just four months into the run of its first Barclays Premiership football season.

But its recent sports rights acquisitions have pushed break-even back by at least a year, according to Richard Brooke, director of corporate strategy. Setanta had expected to reach a million customers, paying £9.99 a month for the service over Freeview and satellite, towards the end of its first season.

Shoppers make a profit for Christmas online

Shoppers can make a fast profit in the run up to Christmas by snapping up the best selling toys and gadgets and swiftly re-selling them on eBay, the online auction site. Research by the Daily Telegraph shows that with a basket of eight popular presents including mobile phones this Christmas, canny shoppers could make a profit of £371 by immediately re-selling them on the website.

This is before you take into account the Nintendo Wii, the games console that is predicted to be an even more popular hit than last year. Due to severe supply problems, the £179.99 gadget is almost impossible to track down on the High Street. As a result, it is regularly selling at well over £500 on eBay, with some fetching up to £1000. The lowest price obtained last week was £280. But even relatively low-priced gifts could land you a substantial profit. In the Night Garden – a hit programme with toddlers watching the CBeebies channel – has spawned a whole range of must-have toys. The Ninky-Nonk train, for instance, costs £9.99 in John Lewis. On eBay some buyers are paying £41 for the train. The most popular Transformer – Optimus Prime – is just £29.99 at Toys R Us, a fraction of the price sellers are charging on eBay, where one sold for £216 this week.

Profits can also be made from Baby Annabell dolls, Dr Who masks and the remote-controlled dragonfly that is predicted to be in many children’s stockings. It is estimated there are at least 100,000 people who regularly supplement their income by sophisticated trading on eBay and other online auction sites. However, if you want to make a serious profit you have to do your homework and second-guess what the best sellers are in advance.

Robert Pugh, author of 'The eBay Business Handbook’ says he bought most of his toy stock over the summer, when prices were cheap and supply was good. “To cash in now, you need to already be thinking about next year’s best sellers. This year is going to be too late, unless you strike it lucky.” Many of the most popular toys are already out of stock in many shops, leaving parents tearing their hair out and eBay traders with few options. However, Mr Pugh says even if you can’t track down a Wii on the High Street, you can always bank on “good, solid trade names” such as Lego and Brio to make money online. Buy Christmas mobile phones .

Sony Ericsson P1i awarded by Swedish magazine Mobile

At the recently held Mobilgalan show organized by the Swedish magazine Mobile , Sony Ericsson mobile phone Symbian UIQ 3 based Sony P1i was awarded by the prestigious award Guldmobilen in the “Smartphone of the Year” category.

About Sony ericsson P1i :
Now I don’t want to sound sarcastic, but their last year’s winner was Sony Ericsson P990i, which we know is far from the perfect device — it’s too buggy and lacks RAM. The Sony ericsson P1i is much better choice, most notably because of the more available RAM and overall improved stability.

New BlackBerry may target iPhone

The makers of the BlackBerry smart phone may be working on a rival to Apple iPhone, reports suggest. Research In Motion (RIM) has traditionally been a very business-focused manufacturer, but has recently moved more into the mainstream with Blackberry Mobile Phone i.e. Pearl handsets. Now, according to an analyst, the Canadian company may be hoping to take on Apple's new entrant in the mobile market with its upcoming 9000-series.

"The 9000 is supposed to be a touchscreen device, very similar in form factor to the iPhone," said Carmi Levy, of AR Communications, in an interview with the publication Unstrung. "Which means that it is not an enterprise-friendly device."

According to Levy, the 9000-series was originally due to appear towards the end of this year, but has now been put back until 2008. The phones will be RIM's first without a keyboard of some variety, and will also incorporate enhanced multimedia capabilities, Levy claimed. He added that RIM would continue to produce the keyboard-sporting models for which it is famous.

iPhone 'sells 70,000 units' during first week

The Apple iPhone sold some 70,000 units during its first weekend on sale, The Mirror has worked out. The newspaper reports that the Apple iPhone 3G , which went on sale at 6.02pm last Friday, sold at "a rate of 4.2 per second at the height of the frenzy at 1,300 outlets". This works out to "as many as 70,000" sales across all the Apple, Carphone Warehouse and O2 stores.
A rush of new O2 customers.

None of the three firms are willing to give out any official sales figures but an Apple spokesperson said it was 'pleased' with the initial interest. Peter Erskine, chief executive of O2, told the Evening Standard that the Apple iPhone has been "the fastest selling device we have ever seen. It sold in the tens of thousands but not as many as 100,000".

Speaking to Tech.co.uk, O2's PR manager Nick Wilkins said that initial Apple iPhone activation figures showed that two thirds of customers were new to O2. Seems like most people didn't unlock their Apple iPhones in the end...Buy Apple iPhone

How smart does your phone need to be?

Mobile phones come with ever more features; whether we use them is crucial to a billion-dollar industry. Can your phone take pictures? Probably yes.

But can it sync with the diary and contacts on your computer? Download and play music and videos? Play video games? Browse the web, do your e-mail? Tell you where you are and where to go? Your answers are important - not just when you decide on your next mobile phone. A whole range of industries is waiting for you to make up your mind, because it bets that you will want a phone that is smart, and sends and receives plenty of data.

Smart, kind of : Once upon a time the dividing line was clear: there were smartphones, expensive but chunky bricks with plenty of office applications; and then there were smaller consumer phones that allowed you to text and talk. Today, boundaries are blurred. So-called feature-rich phones are everywhere. Unlike true smartphones they may not be able to run more than one or two programs at a time. Apart from that you'll be hard pressed to tell the difference.

To make such a phone a true money spinner, it has to have a fast 3G data connection, says Paul Goode, senior analyst at M:metrics, a consulting firm. Take HTC's TYTN II, sold on the UK market by T-Mobile as MDA Vario III. With its slide-out keyboard and tilting screen it resembles a mini laptop, complete with browser, office software and GPS navigation system. But do people need mini-computers like that? "There are two categories of phone users," says Anders Runevad, head of sales at phone maker Sony Ericsson. "Those who have time to kill: they want to fill it with entertainment, blogging, surfing and sharing with friends. And those who have time to create: they use office applications, calendar, e-mail." The industry is working hard to find out which features are best for what kind of user. "Most phones sold into the market now tend to specialise in different things - the internet, music or e-mail," says Richard Warmsley, T-Mobile UK's head of internet on the move. "It's about matching different types of services with the needs of different customers."

"Yes, we in the industry push features on consumers," says Mats Lindoff, the chief technology officer of phone maker Sony Ericsson. But it works. Take camera phones. They were derided at first. Today half of all mobile phone users in the UK take pictures with their mobiles, and a quarter send them on. Camera phones have been a "phenomenal success" says Paul Goode. Now the industry hopes that mobile data - web, e-mail, music downloads - will be the next goldmine.

Samsung i780 being released in Europe in January

The smartphone from Samsung mobile phones has 3G HSDPA, GPS, and Wi-Fi, that’s pretty good for a device like this. Oh yeah, you know that one area where the BlackJack models are lacking, the whole lack of a touchscreen thing? Not on this handset, it has a 2.6-inch touchscreen.

Samsung i780 has Windows Mobile 6 Pro, a QWERTY keypad, 2MP cam, Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP, and a MicroSD card slot. On top of all that there is even GPS technology integrated into all this, granted its only assisted GPS, but hey, it’s a step in the right direction, all that for 500 Euro, why can’t we get phones like this over here? Latest samsung mobile in the UK market is Samsung F110 Micoach, with 1 GB embedded memory.

Downwardly mobile prices : 3 mobile network

THE first shot in the battle to revolutionise the cost of making international calls was fired last week. But the company behind it may not have realised the ramifications of doing so. Mobile phone group 3 launched a handset which allows users to make free international calls, thanks to its tie-up with VOIP (Voice Over the Internet Protocol) company Skype. This should inject some desperately needed competition, and with luck will trigger innovations which will slash the cost of international calls.

3 mobile phones have been playing up the benefits for groups of friends in the UK to talk for free if they all sign up for the new handset (£49.99 and then a minimum of £12 per month pay as you go), although many networks already offer friends free calls. But by adding Skype technology to handsets which went on sale on Friday, 3 has opened up the possibility of virtually unlimited free calls between millions of people globally.

Many home phone companies, including British Telecom and Talk Talk, offer free or discounted calls to certain overseas countries. Where the new 3 deal has the edge, though, is in allowing free calls overseas while users are out and about.

The potential savings for mobile users while overseas are considerable. Even allowing for the price cap imposed by the European Parliament on so-called roaming charges at the end of the summer, which has reduced costs by 60%, using a mobile overseas is expensive. Calling home from France costs 38p a minute with Vodafone and Orange, and 35p a minute with O2, while calling the UK from the US costs £1.30 a minute with Orange, £1.25 with Vodafone and 99p with O2.

Motorola Stylishly Steps Into Handsfree Car Kits

Like virtually every model on the market today, the 'T505' works using Bluetooth technology and - like Parrot's PMK5800 - its simple clip design can be attached to a visor and requires no installation.

Just like the PMK5800, the T505 can also be used iTrip-style to stream audio from any Bluetooth equipped music player, with the audio automatically pausing should there be an incoming call.

Acoustics for both functions should be excellent too since the T505 uses A2DP for stereo and bass-enhanced streaming while echo and noise cancellation technologies are built in. Useful features such as caller ID, an in-car battery charger and 20 hours continuous talk time further add to its appeal too while diminutive dimensions of just 76 x 78 x 22.8mm and a weight of 88g makes it highly portable.

On the downside Motorola says the T505 won't appear until 2008 but with the company promising it will be 'great value' this may make its more established rivals sit up and take notice.

Samsung unveils 5.0 megapixel camera phone

Delivering ‘first of its kind’ technology, Samsung’s new handset is being positioned as the answer to customers’ needs when it comes to having "the perfect digital camera and the perfect multimedia mobile" melding into a single cutting-edge device. Beyond the user-friendly 3x optical zoom and Xenon flash to help users accurately capture close-ups and extreme photographic detail, the new camera mobile phone G800 also delivers other attractive features usually found on digital cameras, including macro, multi, and panoramic shots.

South Korean electronics tycoon Samsung has this week turned the media spotlight onto its new G800 handset, which it confidently describes as the world's first 5.0 megapixel camera phone with 3x optical zoom. Boasting its 5.0 megapixel camera with 3x optical zoom lens, the G800 lives somewhat of a double life, resembling a conventional digital camera when viewed from one side and a modern desirable mobile phone from the other. Furthermore, the G800’s camera also offers video capture capabilities alongside the advantages of face detection technology, Xenon flash, Wide Dynamic Range, and video editing functions for the cutting, pasting, and editing of self-made films and clips.

"As multi-megapixel camera phones become more and more popular, the needs of actual digital camera-like features grow together. Samsung G800 will satisfy the unmet needs in the camera category with a true digital camera-like design and functionality," commented Geesung Choi, president of Samsung’s Telecommunication Network. "The G800 will enable users to capture and share precious moments in their daily lives through the enhanced camera functions in a fast 3G network."

New Sony phone has 8 megapixel camera lens mounted on the rear of the handset with Autofocus, image stabalisation, face detection and a xenon flash prove how serious the Sony Ericsson C905 is about pictures.

SAS man makes phone-based publicity lunge

Ex-SAS man and action author Andy McNab's latest book is going to be promoted with a short-code that responds with a link to the first chapter of the book, free to your mobile contract phone - but unlike previous promotions of this type the chapter is also available in spoken form.

Giving away the chapter of a book for reading on mobiles is nothing new - Borders only launched its free-chapter-to-your-mobile service back in July, and it appears strangely bereft of content.

The problem is that mobile phones are very ill-equipped for reading books - they have small, low-resolution screens, and LCD isn't the ideal display technology for reading text anyway. Whether it's a question of technology or habit that we don't use phones as mobile libraries we'll find out next year, when the next generation of electronic-paper-based devices become available. But for the moment it seems that reading text on a phone screen is a non-starter.

The spoken word, on the other hand, can work on a mobile. Many phones are routinely used as MP3 players ,as they carry MP3 phone feature and podcasts have shown how popular the spoken word can be. The publisher couldn't confirm if Andy would be reading the text himself, but it seems likely given the popularity of the readings on his website.

“Orange World” portal opens the way for differentiated bilingual services bringing to the customers new entertainment applications and downloads. As for a more serious approach, the portal provides a fast and reliable on-line access for business men and professionals to follow up on their e-mails and data communications, compatible to different types of handsets.

“It is a different type of portal. It adds functions that were not provided in the “Yalla” portal. Customers will find the service different to anything they have experienced and the amount of new bilingual content and services in “Orange World” will prove the unmatched quality of the service and provide more entertainment functions,” said Tom Hanks, VP JTG / CEO Orange personal. “We aspire for the best and for what is new and successful on international markets.”

Other than offering games, ring tones and other relevant functions, “Orange World” will provide new tools that can increase or decrease font and page size, and would allow sending free bookmarks to friends.

However, Orange Mobile Network customers can access to view fully the portal and inspect different content such as news, weather, prayer times and entertainment. Downloads in addition to the WAP traffic are chargeable at 3 fils per KB, which will be minimal. An additional 9 fils per 10 KB for Web Traffic while playing online.

Samsung Adds Broadcom Chips for 3G Phones

The world's top most mobile phone deals manufacturer accelerates latest 3G handset deployments. Officials with Samsung, the world's second-largest cell-phone maker, said Oct. 7 they are shipping its new 3G handsets with Broadcom chips. The collaboration extends a deal first struck last year between the two companies for Samsung to launch Broadcom's first-generation 3G technology.

The Broadcom 3G cellular solutions selected by Samsung, of Seoul, South Korea, for its SGH-J750 and SGH-A401 mobile phones include the BCM2133 EDGE baseband processor, the BCM2141 WCDMA co-processor, the BCM2045 Bluetooth transceiver and the BCM59001 PMU (power management unit).

The new 3G Samsung mobile phone deals are now shipping to cellular operators in multiple countries, including Europe, Asia, Africa and Australia. Additional Samsung products with Broadcom's 3G solutions will be released by the Christmas season.

"Broadcom is a capable and valued partner for Samsung and as the 3G market grows very rapidly, we expect that our relationship will become more successful in the future," J.K. Shin, executive vice president of Samsung's Telecommunications Network Business, said in a statement.

The EDGE hardware accelerators minimize power consumption while users browse the Internet, download e-mail or view streaming video over EDGE networks. The BCM2133 integrates a full set of multimedia features including two-megapixel digital camera support, video record and playback capabilities, stereo MP3 / Video player and support for 64-tone polyphonic ringtones.

Intel, Nokia and Nokia Siemens Jibe on WiMax

In a bid to push emerging WiMax wireless technology, Intel, Nokia and Nokia Siemens Networks yesterday said they were interoperability testing their respective WiMax gear.

Nokia also announced it would use Intels new WiMax chip, codenamed Baxter Peak, in its WiMax-enabled Nseries tablet computers that are slated to ship next year. The tablets will be among the first Linux-based WiMax internet devices to market, Nokia said. They will sport a Mozilla browser and support Skype and Rhapsody, among other applications.

They also will be the first Nokia mobile devices(Nokia N96 three) to be powered by an Intel chip; Texas Instruments supplies most mobile silicon to Nokia. Broadcom, Infineon and STMicroelectronics are among Nokias other suppliers.

In addition to Intels Baxter Peak, which is being designed for laptops and other mobile devices, and Nokia WiMax devices, the companies are also testing unspecified Nokia Siemens WiMax infrastructure equipment.

The companies claim to have already begun interoperable testing their equipment and devices with dozens of other equipment vendors in Sprints Virginia-based labs.

Sprint, of course, is planning a soft launch of its Xohm-branded WiMax service by the end of 2007, with full commercial availability slated for the first half of 2008. Intel and Nokia, along with Motorola mobile and Samsung phone deals , were previously named WiMax suppliers for Sprints WiMax network.

Intels Baxter Peak is based on the same WiMax baseband silicon used in Intels Echo Peak MiniCard module for laptops and ultra-mobile devices. It includes multiple input/multiple output (MIMO) antenna technology, which promises to work better in challenging environments.

Armani to launch mobile phone with Samsung

Italian designer Giorgio Armani has joined forces with Samsung Electronics to design a television and a mobile phone, along with other consumer electronics, the companies said on Sunday.
Armani, one of Italy's leading fashion designers, will unveil a mobile phone model on September 24 at his show for Giorgio Armani womenswear for spring and summer 2008, joining several other designers who have already tapped this market.

The Armani-Samsung mobile phone will be the size of a credit card and 10.5 millimetres thick, the companies said in a statement. Designers Dolce & Gabbana have teamed up with Motorola for a gold-coloured version of the RAZR mobile phone model and Prada has developed a phone with South Korea's LG Electronics.

Armani said the liquid crystal display (LCD) television that it develops with Samsung will be unveiled in January 2008. Home electronics are still unusual territory for fashion designers, although several have launched interior design collections.

Luxury goods segments are benefiting from a surge in the wealthy alongside fast economic growth in countries such as China, India and Russia, while Middle East markets have strengthened as a boom in commodity prices increases incomes. "We make as much of a personal statement with the mobile phones that we carry or the televisions that we have in our living rooms as we do with the shoes and bags we wear or the furnishings we choose," Armani said in the statement.

No financial details were disclosed.
